Hi everyone! Summer is almost around the corner. And you know what that means? Yes, potato salad. But in addition to that, convention season is near us. I will have a table the Artists' Alley for Fanime (in just a handful of days!) and Anime Expo (I'm surprised that I got a table; it was tough this year!). Along with the usual suspects (as you see above), I will also be selling Hamthology Volume 2 books, which should be coming out any time soon! Of course I will be there to do commissions, and I may have a print or two on sale..we'll see how that goes. Looking forward to seeing you all there! - Bryan Wong (05/16/2008) First off, Happy Lunar New Year! Year of the Ferret! (YAY)...I wish. Well, rat's closest we're going to get to a ferret, right? So..what happens when you say a word that's never been said ever before in the history of mankind? Does your head explode? Do you unleash demons? Do you get to claim ownership? Or at the very least, do you get etymology bragging rights? Anyway, there's a word that I've been crossing my finger no one has ever used (or more importantly, is using)..And as far as the all-wise Google tells me, I have a good chance of making that a reality. It doesn't even suggest other words that I may have "meant". That's how new this word is. So I'm going to say it. For the first time ever. Muniyoots The word plays an important function in the new comic I'm working on, "Sömmat-Nieh Municipal Youth Association." It also serves as a practical shorthand version of the dry, verbose story name. If you think this all sounds lame, I don't blame you. Wait until you see their sports jackets. Anyway, I am not going to say much more about the project, and jinx myself by talking-the-talk.. I will, however, update you when I meet milestones. The main reason had to post this message at this given time is because...vv Muniyoots <- MINE! EDIT: (Oh yeah... Traansej*e LlaesSadjlehld <- Mine too.) - Bryan Wong (02/08/2008) Hey guys! The Finish-A-Comic Contest Winners are finally posted up! Thanks to all for participating. We had a blast reading everyone's submissions. UPDATE Added the finished page from the Ludicrous Speed panel, for those of you interested. Afterwards, I had tidied it up a bit and added some more shading.. - Bryan Wong (01/17/2008) Hi everyone. Thanks to all of you who came out to Anime Los Angeles 4 this weekend. I had an absolute blast and hope that you did as well. Thanks to those who came to my panels, visited my booth, purchased my books and commissions, and participated in the SCR contest! Shortly, I will post the winning contest entries on this site, so keep tuned. It was a real thrill to be part of such a great convention. I can't stress more how much I love ALA for its caring staff and its encouragement of creativity and participation. I couldn't think of a better type of convention to be a part of, and I certainly hope that I will be able to continue doing so in the future. Also, I want to thank Sakura of America and Manga Start for providing the free tutorial pamphlets as well as prizes that we gave out all weekend. It truly helped to make the panels and our contest a great success. So you might wonder, what's next? Well, first off is a couple days of decompression from the whole convention; I spent these past few months preparing for it, and a shy bloke like me being shoved into the spotlight like that really takes a lot of mental preparation. It was hectic, but a lot of fun and a lot of learning. After getting some rest, I'm jumping straight into the development of a new comic series, "Sömmat-Nieh Municipal Youth Association." If everything turns out as planned, it will be hilarious and a lot of fun. Doing so will require a lot of preparation, so you may have to remain patient for a couple months before I'm ready to unveil everything, but I hope it is worth the wait. I'll try to think of things to keep you occupied in the meantime. Happy New Year and hope to see you during the summer months! - Bryan Wong (01/08/2008) |
